This project involved the creation of a new roof opening and the professional installation of two VELUX roof windows in a residential property in Chiswick, London.
The work was carefully planned and carried out in stages, with particular attention to protecting the property and achieving a clean, professional finish.
Project Preparation & Protection:
Before any structural work began, the working area was carefully prepared and protected. Floors, stairs, furniture and surrounding areas were fully covered to minimise dust and protect the property throughout the installation process.
Creating the New Roof Opening:
The existing plasterboard ceiling was carefully removed to expose the roof structure. The required roof opening was then accurately measured and formed, with the existing timber structure carefully cut and adapted to create a secure opening for the new VELUX roof windows.
VELUX Window Installation:
Once the openings were prepared, the structural framing was reinforced and adjusted to provide a secure and level base for the installation. Two new VELUX roof windows were carefully positioned and installed, ensuring accurate alignment and a secure fit within the roof structure.
Insulation & Internal Finishing:
After the VELUX windows were installed, the surrounding areas were properly insulated to improve thermal performance and help prevent heat loss. New plasterboard was then fitted around the window openings, creating a clean and stable surface ready for the final finishing work.
Electrical Work & Feature Lighting:
As a final enhancement, the customer requested feature lighting around the VELUX windows. The required electrical work was carefully carried out to prepare the lighting installation, with the final spotlights installed by a qualified electrician.
Final Result:
The completed installation transformed the space by introducing more natural light and improving the overall feel of the room. The two new VELUX roof windows were integrated into the roof structure with insulation and internal plasterboard finishing, while the additional feature lighting provided a practical and modern finishing touch.
