We recently completed a VELUX roof window upgrade project at a residential property in Acton, West London. The project was designed to improve natural ventilation, daylight control and overall comfort within a home extension.
As part of the work, we carefully removed six existing fixed windows from the extension and installed four new VELUX solar-powered roof windows. The new windows are electrically operated and can be opened and closed remotely, giving the homeowner convenient control over ventilation and fresh air.
To further improve comfort and protection from direct sunlight, we also installed VELUX electric external shutters, operated by remote control. The external shutters provide effective solar protection by reducing the amount of direct heat and sunlight entering the room, particularly during the warmer months.
The completed installation has made a noticeable difference to the comfort and usability of the extension. The homeowner can now benefit from improved ventilation and fresh air, while having better control over sunlight and indoor temperature. By limiting excessive solar heat entering the property, the new system can also help reduce the need for cooling and improve energy efficiency during hot weather.
This Acton project is a great example of how modern VELUX solar-powered roof windows combined with electric external shutters can transform an existing extension into a brighter, more comfortable and better-controlled living space.
